When Tim realised his dream of playing number 7 for Manchester United wasn't going to happen, it took him on a journey that ultimately led to him becoming "Head of Search" for Web Marketing Advisor
Moving to Manchester in 1998 coincided with a growing fascination for the web, he temped for various companies until offered a job in BT's Accounts Payable's Department. Tim was literally outsourced, or as he says 'that's what if felt like at the time - have your soul sold at someone else discretion' , to a company called Xansa before quitting to play his hand at starting his own company.
Tim now through many coincidences has ended up here at WMA.
Tim says;
I was just fascinated with the internet since the day I first saw it. We've all heard stories from our parents and our grandparents about when TV was invented, seeing their first films, even the invention of cars. There's was nothing like that for my generation, we just didn't get those stories that was until the internet came along, then we suddenly had something we couldn't imagine possible.
You could describe a lot of what I can do as geeky, now I'm real techie. I learnt to code websites, design, which evolved into programming, designing web applications, and to marketing them highly effectively, which evolved into SEO.
Moving from BT/Xansa to being self employed was a big step, but it was something I needed to try. I did ok but ultimately I gave it up to do this.
It was a big step to decide to leave the freedom of self employment to come and work for another company. However when I met Guy and he offered me the chance to come here and do this there wasn't really much to think about. Firstly it's given me a stage with this job where I can do the things I've dreamed off.
This isn't just another web company doing what all the other web companies are doing.
Guy and Myself we're like two pea's in a pod or even two sides of the same coin. We're on the same wavelength when it comes to SEO and Web Marketing. Sometimes we come at things from different perspectives but we always end up at the same result. Ultimately I think I make WMA stronger and WMA also offers me something that I wouldn't otherwise have and in combination that strength is passed onto WMA's clients."
Oh and there's also the free chopper trips, that was the clincher!
